Sutinee Suntivatana, known as Chef Tinee is owner and Head Chef at the popular Melbourne café Humble Rays, where her Asian-influenced brunches and sweet treats are the order of the day.

About Chef Tinee

Tinee's love of food began at an early age in her native Bangkok, where from the age of 7 she was preparing family meals from fresh local ingredients. In 2003 she commenced her career at the Intercontinental Hotel Bangkok, where she worked for two years learning the foundation of her trade.

Relocating to Australia in 2006, Tinee commenced her professional training at Holmesglen TAFE and won Best Apprentice in the 2007 VIC TAFE State Culinary Competition. She followed this achievement by being named Holmesglen's Most Outstanding Hospitality Student in 2008. During this time Tinee also worked at the iconic Richmond pub the London Tavern.

Tinee then commenced a position at Collins Kitchen, in the Grand Hyatt Melbourne working alongside Executive Chef Jason Camillo for over two years. Her next move was to the popular Union Dining with Head Chef Nicky Riemer, before returning to Thailand to open the café Sweetery Bangkok and the Tinee Eatery Work Shop, a catering service, cooking school and café.

In 2015 she returned to Australia and established the Honey Badger Dessert Café located in the bustling Salamanca Square Markets, Hobart. Her latest project Humble Rays opened in 2016, with her unique style of Asian-fusion and innovative sweet dishes taking centre stage.

Located between the University of Melbourne and RMIT's city campus, Humble Rays is popular among students and city workers alike, offering innovative, fun food in an inviting and relaxing space. Tinee proudly promotes the use of quality fresh produce sourced from local farmers and utilises rare and interesting ingredients to give each plate a unique appearance and flavour. Her creative culinary skills have amassed quite a following online, with Humble Rays becoming an Instagram favourite for their delectable dishes and fun, innovative presentation.
