Finger Limes In Season Now!

fingerlimesFinger Limes are an Australian variety of powerfully flavoured citrus native to northern New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland. These small, finger sized fruits have a unique edible pulp that resembles a dense mass of individual pearl-like cells. When bitten, these caviar-like pearls burst open providing an intense infusion of wild, tangy lime flavour.
Finger Limes are the ideal accompaniment to any seafood dish. Add them to freshly shucked oysters, seared scallops or grilled salmon for a uniquely Australian Christmas. Finger Limes combine well with chicken, melon, avocado, alcoholic spirits, chocolate and cream based desserts.
They are a sophisticated and flavoursome floating garnish for cocktails and beverages. Use Finger Limes in any dish where a burst of citrus flavour would be complementary, including Asian fusion and dessert dishes.
Flowerdale Farm has just received our first delivery of fresh Finger Limes for the new season. Fruit is exceptional quality and we expect consistent ongoing supply throughout the season. Retail punnets, 1kg bags and bulk orders available!

New Seasonal Product: Tomatillos

tomatillosTomatillos are a seasonal product which will be available in the coming weeks from Flowerdale Farm through the Glenora Heritage Produce range.

Tomatillos are also known as Mexican green tomatoes, or Mexican husk tomatoes. Native to Central America, Tomatillo fruit is surrounded by a crinkly paper-like husk. Mature fruit can range in colour from green to yellow or even purple.
A staple of Mexican cuisine, Tomatillos can be eaten raw or cooked in a variety of dishes, particularly salsa verde and green sauces. Their striking colour and tart flavour make them ideal for green shakshuka, salsas and dips, and creative summer cocktails such as Tomatillo Margaritas or the Tomatillo Bloody Mary.
Tomatillos combine well with chicken, pork, scallops, pumpkin and mushroom. With a high pectin content Tomatillos are also frequently used in jams and preserves.
Tomatillos season will commence after Christmas and they will be available in 500g punnets. All Glenora products are picked to order so please ensure orders are received to Flowerdale Farm by 8am each Tuesday or Friday.
